Locks of Love

Before...

...and after.

Emmy had 8 inches of hair cut a couple days ago; she is donating it to Locks of Love. It is enough hair to make a boys hairpiece (it takes 10 inches of hair to make a girls hairpiece). They use between 6 to 10 different peoples hair together to make one wig and none of the hair you send gets thrown away. If you send less than 10 inches of hair and they don't need a boys hairpiece at that time, they will sell it to offset manufacturing costs. I did cringe a little bit when Wendy cut the first ponytail off, even though I had been planning on doing this for a long time. Emmy really likes her new haircut!

Picnic

Today was a really nice day outside, so we decided to have a little picnic in our backyard.
We miss you Daddy!

Fun Day

Today the kids and I had a very busy but fun day. Spencer had his soccer class in the morning, which he loves, and after his class finished we walked over to the park to play for a while. After the park, we went to Subway for lunch. The kids were dancing in their chairs while they ate and just having a good time; it was cute. Then we went over to the Y because it was "Healthy Kids Day" and they had games and stuff for the kids. Emmy and Spencer jumped in the bouncy castle and got a balloon. They had face painting but my kiddos aren't interested in that yet. Spencer enjoyed watching the other kids practice their Karate. I think Erik and I will have a little Karate Kid on our hands in the future. We stayed for an hour and then headed home for nap time. After nap and snack, we went to the outlet mall to do a little shopping. And then headed back home for dinner, story time, bath, snack, movie (only 30 min. of it), and then bedtime. The kids were super tired. I think we will sleep in 'til 8 a.m. tomorrow. Remember the days when sleeping in meant 11 a.m.? Hardly.

Happy Easter!

For breakfast today we had pink and yellow donuts, bagels, and bananas.

Spencer only wanted the yellow donuts and Emmy only wanted the pink ones.

After we finished our breakfast, we found what the Easter Bunny had left. The kids really liked their big coloring books and stickers. They also ate more candy today than I even care to think about.

In the afternoon, I had them put the sticker faces on the eggs.

Spencer was really into it.

One egg is missing because I dropped it... oops! But the rest of them turned out pretty cute.

We had grilled cheese in the shape of bunnies for lunch and later went out back to hunt for some Easter eggs!

Spencer's eggs were camouflage so they were actually kinda hard to find. Emmy was good about helping him out.

We played a little soccer and went on a bike ride since it was such a nice day out. We had fun, but I was a little sad about Erik being gone and missing out on doing stuff with the kids. They ask about Daddy everyday. Emmy asked me once how many minutes he would be gone.

The Kids

Spencer got a haircut yesterday and he FINALLY sat all by himself and did AWESOME! I thought that day would never come. It used to be a struggle to even get him in the door of the barber shop. For a while now he has been sitting on my lap for his haircuts and doing quite well, so yesterday I felt it was time to try and get him to sit like a big guy. He was willing to give it a try and didn't even mind that I wasn't sitting with him.

Nana and Papa,
Here is the picture I promised you. This is Emily's first art project from her preschool. She LOVES her class and is always excited to go. I'm so glad that she does so well playing with the other kids and talking to them; she used to be so shy. Today they are going to have an Easter egg hunt... Emmy really liked that idea.

Erik's Tree

Sorry Erik, this is what the wind did to your tree. Almost completely split it in half at the base. I never did like this tree much. I like big trees with big leaves that have potential to produce some sort of shade and this was not that kind of tree. Erik liked this skinny tree but I guess the wind was on my side, even after he just retied it nice and tight to the 3 posts next to it.

Poor Baby

Spencer fell down while playing outside so I was consoling him while Emmy took a picture with her camera. I didn't even see her take this one. Poor little guy; he looks so sad.
Erik took the kids on a bike ride before he left and brought Emmy's camera along so they could stop and take a few pictures. I think they somehow got deleted from the camera but it was really funny to see what they both thought was important enough to take pictures of. Emmy took pictures of trees, plants, and a plane. Spencer took pictures of dirt/rocks, road signs, and dog poop. Silly guy!
