Happy Halloween!

Nana once again made the kids some awesome halloween costumes. Emmy was a princess and Spencer was a knight. They had fun this evening trick-or-treating on base; it was really nice out too (68 degrees).

These last pictures were taken a couple days ago when Emmy got to wear her costume to preschool. Spencer also wore his when we went to see Emmy sing with her class. I have more pictures from that day to post, but I must get these up for now because Nana, Papa, and Darcie can't wait any longer!!!

Much to my surprise, Emmy has started reading already. She can read and spell a bunch of three letter words and a just a few bigger ones! Erik and I can no longer say "Do you want to take the kids to the P-A-R-K ?" She is very proud of herself for this accomplishment. All day long she just wants to practice spelling words. Practice makes perfect!

Spencer News

Spencer likes to peel his own banana in the morning.

I think he just went through a growth spurt because he has gotten very tall all of the sudden.
We finally gave him peanut butter and thankfully he is not allergic to it like Emmy. Hopefully he doesn't develop a pollen allergy like Emmy has.
He's such a smart little guy thanks to his big sister who has taught him so much. Lately she has been teaching him phonics and a bunch of the songs she learned at preschool. He wants to do everything she does.
He really likes astronauts and pretty much anything to do with outer space. Another reason why he likes Buzz Lightyear so much. Maybe Santa will buy him a telescope for Christmas!
All in all, he's a very healthy, happy little guy.

Preschool Update

A few weeks ago I went to a parents workshop at Emmy's preschool and I was very impressed with what I saw. They basically showed us different activities they do at school and a few of their teaching methods. They really know how to make learning fun which is why Emmy still loves to go. They are learning about the planets/sun/moon in science right now. Emmy asked me the other day if I knew that the sun was a really big star... smart girl! One of her teachers told me that she is very good at art, which I know because she loves to draw at home. Her other teacher said to me "If I just had a class full of Emily's that would be so awesome". She got her alphabet crown yesterday and said that just her and one other girl have gotten them so far. You really have to earn it too. They have to be able to spell all the lower case and capital letters, know all the sounds the letters make and which ones have two sounds. So now she is working on blending and will be reading very soon! Her favorite thing to do in her free time (besides draw) is too teach herself Spanish from her little laptop. Some of the words she knows but most of them she writes down and asks Daddy what they mean. She is loving playing with kids her age now. She was so shy before and now she even asks other kids at the park if they want to play with her. A little girl at the store said hello to Emmy and she even said hello back. Before she would have just kept on walking. I'm so proud of her!!!

Emmy still loves to pose for pictures.

Spencer is hard at work and can't be bothered to look at the camera

Emmy made the pig and Spencer made the dog.

Sea World (day 3 of our trip)

This picture was taken after a dolphin splashed Emmy big time. She was really wet and not too happy about it. But after getting a bunch of free candy and meeting a princess, she was all smiles.

The kids got to hug cookie monster.

Towards the end of the day, we went to a 4D sesame street movie new to Sea World. The kids thought that was pretty cool. We didn't take many pictures because we had the video camera with us so I think we have more video than anything.
On day four of our trip we were going to go back to the beach, but it was a little chilly out (in the 60's). Which was ok because we got an early start on the drive home and made it back early.
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!!!

San Diego Trip (day one)

These pictures were all taken at Coronado beach.

I didn't think the kids would really want to get all that wet so I didn't put on their swimsuits. They were soaked from playing in the ocean and had a blast!

Emmy said she wanted to live by the beach... me too!

We stayed at a Navy Lodge the first night that was right on the beach.

Emmy took one of the shells we found to school for show and tell.
