My Little Pirates

Today was a pirate themed day for the kids. We started off decorating our telescopes (paper towel thing) with fish and Tinkerbell stickers.

Emmy was very excited about our whole day, whereas Spencer just kind of followed her lead. It was funny to watch them do the activities together.

We then used our telescopes to help find the hidden treasure. Here they are looking under Spencer's bed... nope not under there.

Aha, we found it in Emmy's room!

It was just a couple of swords that light up and some jewels (necklaces and bracelets). We took the swords to the park this afternoon and pretended to be pirates.

They thought the whole thing was pretty cool. We had fish sticks, mac and cheese, and corn for lunch today and Emmy said it was our "pirate lunch".

After nap they painted pictures; Spencer's was a pirate ship...

...and Emmy's was Tinkerbell.

They also helped me make our jello dessert with gummy sharks in the middle.

Tonight will be "movie night". We'll eat popcorn and watch Peter Pan!

Jacobson Update!

Well, we've been busy, busy, busy, trying to decorate our new house. I finally decided on an interior wall color today. We have boring white walls and I wanted to warm it up a bit and go beige.

We got our patio and patio cover done last week so now we are looking for someone to landscape the backyard... so many choices.

Emmy got her big girl twin bed today (bye, bye toddler bed!) so Erik is going to put it together later. The dresser and nightstand will arrive later this week. I'm tempted to buy Spencer's big guy bed as well since it's on sale and I'm afraid it won't be in stock much longer; it matches the dresser he has now.

We've been enjoying our new city and all it has to offer! Last weekend we went to Red Rock; it was so pretty. The kids both hiked for at least an hour. Spencer walked the entire way and it wasn't the easiest trail. They both did awesome. All the other kids Spencer's age were in a backpack. Our kids just love being out doors. Emmy is still telling me she wants to go hiking!

Erik and I washed our 4Runner yesterday and let the kids help. Emmy was especially helpful. She told me "Don't do it all Mom, kids can help too"! It was actually the most fun I've ever had washing a car.

We've been able to meet up with several old friends for dinner since we've been here which has been fun. I really like it here and I know already it will be hard to leave this place.

Emmy is just growing up way too fast. She likes to tell me all the things she can do now that she is a "big girl"...it's so cute. She's very independent and such a chatterbox. And I love that she goes to the potty without me!!!!

Spencer is such a little sweetheart. He does the nicest things for Emmy without us even asking him to. And he's starting to talk a lot thanks to his big sister!
